We source from the Northern most region of India, near the border of Pakistan, Rajasthan is home to artisan craftsman and hidden warehouses that produce the most unique and beautiful furniture pieces in the world. For 17 years, we have been on a search through these hidden places in Rajasthan, sourcing the pieces that speak to us and evoke the senses. Through a careful process, our carpenters remodel, reshape and restore the pieces we find on our journeys.
Among the rarest architectural pieces in our collection, the Antique Original Painted Indian Heritage Door | No. 1 is a remarkable survivor of history. Handcrafted from solid teak timber and beautifully carved by skilled artisans, what truly sets this door apart is the extraordinary preservation of its original painted surface—a feature that becomes increasingly rare with time.
For generations, it was a tradition in many Indian homes for families to repaint the entrance of their home before Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Each new coat symbolised renewal, prosperity and welcoming good fortune for the year ahead. Rather than stripping away the past, every celebration added another layer of colour, gradually creating the rich, weathered patina seen today.
