These lovely moon-shaped masks are made by the Congolese Teke tribe. They are customarily worn by members of the Kiduma, a covert organization in charge of planning social rites and festivals. Each mask is individually hand-carved from local hard wood then painted and colored with clay. Each piece bears unique characteristics.
