Bowl | Turkana - Medium

One of our favourite collections is of old Turkana bowls. This bowl is a part of a very unique set that took 8 years to put together. Women from the Turkana community in Kenya hand-carved each bowl from local wood. Turkana bowls are renowned for their peculiar and unusual designs, as well as their exquisite carving details, which highlight the Turkana native's artisanal woodworking abilities.

Genuine, vintage wooden bowls from various cultures are getting harder to find, which makes them excellent investment items. Each bowl likely spent many years being used to prepare, serve, or store food, which resulted in beautiful patina, wear, and aging of the wood. Traditional methods have been used to carefully repair the bowls while maintaining their original authenticity. We adore the handcrafted repair since it gives each bowl a special, one-of-a-kind touch for their new home.
