The Beauty of Old Teak
Stools from our Nomad Village range are wholly dedicated to the natural beauty of old teak wood. We love the warmth and richness of old solid teak - the way it deepens as it ages and takes on a patina as the years pass by. It feels like satin, smooth and soft to the touch. Each piece is unique and will add character and style to your home.
We spend time carefully working with the wood, hand-crafting it to highlight the intricacies in the grain and natural knots and marks that make every piece unique. The beauty of natural materials lies in its peculiarities and imperfections. Variations in the wood grain, colour, knots and other natural characteristics are inherent. These are far from flaws, but are an intrinsic part of its character. We believe that these authentic imperfections contribute to the charm of our products.
No veneered MDF has been used on this product. All the wood used for this dining table top is solid Teak timber. This makes the product far stronger, heavier and of a much higher quality. Solid teak timber is relatively easy to repair should it get chipped or damaged unlike a veneered surface. The whitewash also helps conceal marks and stains, making your dining table look great for many years.

Curated by our team at Originals, the Nomad brand comprises of four collections. Originally inspired by our travels through Asia, we bring raw materials and traditional craft together with our vision for producing quality, functional pieces for modern homes.
We have nurtured relationships with our suppliers and craftsmen over two generations, always collaborating with people who value the balance between quality, technicality, beauty, and design.
Our love and passion for sustainably sourced solid teak timber from Java has helped to drive the creation of this series. The close longstanding partnership with our local carpenter and his team of skilled craftsmen in Indonesia enables us to bring to you beautiful, one of a kind, wooden pieces that should be treasured.
Each piece of teak is ethically sourced, from old buildings and structures that have been torn down to be replaced by modern developments or through FSC approved supply chains. All Beds, Dining Tables, Cabinets, Bookcases and Daybeds in the Nomad Village collection have been built and finished by hand. Every piece has its own story to tell.
Care for Teak
No other wood shares teak's exceptional strength and durability. Its resilience is due to its dense structure and high oil content.
Variations in the grain, colour, and knots are inherent to all authentic timber ensuring each piece of furniture has its own unique natural characteristics. We believe that these characteristics bring the piece to life.
Following these simple guidelines to care for your teak piece will keep it looking its best.
Teak Regular Care
The teak stool in our Nomad Village Collection is from well-seasoned old teak. The density of teak wood makes the surface resistant against stains.
For daily care, wipe timber to remove dust and dirt with a dry cloth. Try to wipe up spills immediately with a damp cloth and if needed, natural soap. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Please do not use abrasive sponges or sand the surface as this will damage the surface.
Leaving liquid to sit on the surface or subjecting it to heat or cold will affect the integrity and appearance of the wood.
Timber will react to its environmental conditions. It is best to avoid extreme variations in temperature and humidity. The colour of the timber will naturally change overtime; extreme exposure to UV light, such as placing your piece in direct sunlight, will quicken this process.
